Advanced Functional Dentistry Certificate: Track 4

The IFD Difference

Our residency-style curriculum ensures you develop a full-spectrum skill set,
integrating functional medicine and dentistry.

You will learn a systems-based approach rooted in the principles of Functional Medicine.

Integrated Functional Medicine Training

The first half of the program integrates IFM’s Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP) program with IFD case integration sessions.

Our students co-enroll in IFM’s AFMCP as their foundation.
This includes 35 hours of Continuing Education (CE) hours and 8 hours of IFD Integration.

Specialized IFD Modules

The second half of the program delivers the full IFD curriculum, a comprehensive and deeply integrated educational experience spanning the biological, clinical, behavioral,
and systems-based dimensions of functional dentistry.

Through more than 50 specialty-specific, pre-recorded lectures and 16 IFD integration sessions, participants explore oral-systemic health across nutrition, the microbiome, airway and pediatric development, periodontics, diagnostics, detoxification, regenerative and restorative sciences, bioenergetics, and practice leadership. The curriculum also addresses communication, ethics, resilience, and implementation within modern dental practice.

Four final advanced integration sessions
are offered to Track 4 participants, focused on clinical synthesis, advanced integration, and preparation for the required case presentation.

This immersive, case-based structure ensures clinicians move beyond theory into confident, systems-level application of functional dentistry.

Advanced Practice Module (APM)

You will complete 6 IFM Advanced Practice Modules (APM), which are required to cover targeted systems and are 14.75 CE hours each, along with 16 hours of IFD integration sessions.
